Widely adapted.
Though bred for the South, where General Lee is a widely grown standard, it has also performed well in our Maine trials. Dark fruits with white spines are uniform, attractive, and average 8–8 1/2″ long. The gynoecious plants have a high yield potential. High resistance to scab; and intermediate resistance to cucumber mosaic virus and powdery mildew. NOTE: This variety is gynoecious, which means it will not produce the male flowers required for pollination. Seeds of a pollenizer variety have been mixed into the seed packet at a rate of 10%. As such, it is necessary to plant all seeds in the packet to produce cucumber fruits.
